Cabarrus County is proud to have a long tradition of excellent 4-H’ers represent us at many surrounding area horse shows. Each year, the 4-H Southern Qualifying Show is held here in the South Central District, allowing 4-H’ers to earn their qualification to enter the N.C. 4-H Horse Show and even on to regional and national shows. The link below is additional information on Horse Eligibility Cards.

2023 NC 4-H Horse Program Eligibility Card SOP

Horse & rider combinations must each submit a 2023 Horse Eligibility Form to the N.C. 4-H Horse Office to declare their participation in a qualifying show. This must be done online and is the official way to request an eligibility card from the N.C. 4-H Horse Office. Please make sure to include all information as these cannot be altered for entrance to the show. The name of the horse must match on this declaration, the eligibility card and the current Coggins report from your veterinarian required for check-in at any 4-H horse show.

Eligibility is determined by the 4-H parent, club leader and county agent. In Cabarrus County, youth earn eligibility to participate in this year’s 4-H horse shows by participating in required event in the previous calendar year. These events must be documented on the Cab Co Horse Eligibility Regs and submitted to the county 4-H agent to receive a 4-H’ers N.C. 4-H Horse Contest Eligibility Card. This can be done via email or in person. This request form should be submitted AFTER each horse & rider combination has submitted their request for an eligibility card. 4-H’ers will be notified when their eligibility card is available.

Please allow at least 2 weeks to process all paperwork.

There is no due date, however, eligibility cards are required to submit 4-H Show registration packets, so please plan accordingly.
