4-H Horse Project

Who Can Participate: Youth ages 9-18, must be Madison Co 4-H Members (anyone can join 4-H for free).

What We’ll Do: Learn the fundamentals of horse care, horsemanship, ground skills, and riding.

Do I need to own a horse? No, you do not have to own a horse to participate! This project is open to youth who are interested in learning more about horses! You will get hands-on experience with horses each day with our instructor's horses.

When:  Wednesdays, from 5:30-7:00pm, May 10-June 14 (six weeks)

Where: Marshall, NC

  • Enroll in Events through 4-H Online
  • Pay $20 to Madison County 4-H (cash or check) by May 5 (Scholarships are available if you cannot afford to pay. Contact Misty Varnell at 828-649-2411 or misty_varnell@ncsu.edu)
  • Space is limited to 10 participants

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Attend all six (6) project meetings.
  • Complete a 4-H Horse Project Book, as an extension of learning activities!
