Madison County Center gives our county's residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Soil Testing Information

In North Carolina, most soils are acidic and low in nutrients. Good plant growth usually requires the addition of lime and fertilizer. Soil testing is the best way to find out how much to apply. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture offers soil testing and information for both commercial growers and home owners. Soil samples are usually analyzed within about a week, but may take longer from late fall through early spring due to heavy loads from farmers at this time. Results of the tests are posted on an online system and also mailed to the client. MORE
