Canned Squash

Thursday, July 205:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Taking the time to plan, plant, and tend to a garden can be fun and relaxing. But what do you do when it comes time to harvest? Do you find you are up to your eyeballs in produce? During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to safely make squash pickles with a hot water bath. The class will cover what supplies are needed to preserve food at home, how to identify a tested recipe, how to determine which foods require pressure canning versus water bath processing, how to adjust for altitude, how to prepare foods, jars and lids for canning and when to acidify foods. Registration fee includes a canning kit.
